Just Like Yesterday

Please click on the arrow on this home-made video.
After a somewhat long hiatus we caught up with Irene again, with the help of Oi Bek and Lely.
Like the rest of that uniquely cheeky and harmonious bunch of students from Jurong Secondary School Sec. 4F 1977, Irene
means a lot to me. We all go back a long, long way and though our lives have been filled with joy and pain we try to maintain that quintessential core of our friendship - love and loyalty.

It had been a weekend of eating,
walking in the park,
relaxing,
and meeting new friends like Comot.
Best of all, Irene met up once again with someone she had not seen for 33 years.

Thank you girls and Din. It was just like yesterday.

Very nice getting together with you again too, Lely. It would really be Just Like Yesterday if everyone could be together again.

Thank you, Ms Hamid. The last picture is cute... haha!

Yes, it was weird and wonderful seeing Din again after so many years. Once upon a time, two skinny kids were on a bicycle outside the gates of Jurong Sec School feeling free and gleeful without a care in the world.

Once upon a time a group of naughty young girls' giggles and chatter would fill the air at the school grounds before the bell rang to split everyone up to their positions.

Once upon a time...

awwwww.............. we all remember our first love, no matter how short the time. And old friendships. :) Like the song goes......

Mary Hopkin - Those Were The Days

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Was yesterday really 33 years ago?
But Irene looks just the same. Sounds exactly like she did yesterday. Next time we meet, bring the guitar and sing that song Irene. The one by Karen Carpenter ...

Din,i want to sing for you too but instead of playing the guitar, i will have my back-up singers with me. They are Comot, Rusty and Socks.

Ahh... Ben! I finally see you here!

I did not forget you, Ben, and I will never forget how you sang a song for me too although I didn't know it was meant for me at that time.

Thank you, Ben :)

Baba Ben,
I certainly hope we'll meet way before you turn 64.. and hear you croon... :)

How many of you guys,if given the chance, would rewind back that clock and correct what it could have been..?
I know, I would..

Missed you guys to bits and this blog is the only place that I seek refuge in, if I want to forget the present.

This has been my daily ritual since Miss Hamid started her blog..quietly peeking in to see whether she's up to no good ;)

If there ever was a true meaning of friendship and love..This must be it.

I miss you peeps and I love you all !

And that includes you, Bek ;)

Planning to go to KL in June/July.

Anon,
I know who you are. You can't keep a secret from Miss Hamid .... for long.

Come over when you can. But with so many women around,I think Uncle might decide to run and hide. ha ha!

See you later Roy.
