Just a former schoolmarm and unrepentant maverick. Though I'm 77, I'm too bolshie to metamorphose into a sweet little old lady.

From Leicester with Love
Returned to home from home late on Sunday 16 November. It took 3 hours from Leicester to Heathrow, 16 hours (with transit at Dubai) to KLIA and another two hours to get home to Setiawangsa. We made it - physically intact - not bad for two septuagenarians.
Here I am at 4 am Wednesday morning, still wide awake. Might as well look up my Picture Folder to kill time. I might get so tired and fall asleep, face flat on the laptop.
My passport indicates my homeland is Malaysia but my spirit and my soul still revolves around these images of my life in Singapore and Semenanjung Tanah Melayu.

It's now 5 am - might as well give up trying and get to work on breakfast.
Pn. AsH, Welcome home to you both. Your buai laju2 song reminded me of the song sang by CEO at the first office executive dinner I ever attended way back in the 70s. Was held at the then posh KL Merlin. The CEO was moving table to table greeting us and he was singing to us the very same dong with a slight twist in lyrics.
It was:
...Buai laju2 sampai seberang sana Pakai baju baru makan kedai China...
Welcome home to you both. Its a good time to leave the grey skies and damp weather behind though. Have a good rest, enjoy your time in KL and do keep on writing:).
Pn. AsH, I just have to tell you this. Tan Sri Ani Arope was my singing CEO. He passed on today but I'll always remember him for impacting us all to reality. Al-Fathihah.
Any one who can get others "thinking and changing my ways", any CEO who will go from table to table to greet his staff deserves respectful remembering.
May his soul rest in peace and who knows he might find himself a lovely "buai" to rock himself to sleep?
As salam Kak ASH,
ReplyDeleteSyukur you both arrived safe and sound.
Thanks for the nostalgic pics

Salam and thank you Baiti for the kind thoughts.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked those bits of nostalgia from the sleepy head.
Dear Wan F,
ReplyDeleteHave you still got the same CEO? He seems to be quite a character.
He must be pleased to know that his 'twist' got you "thinking and changing". Kudos to you
Thank you for the greetings. It's good to be back.
Dear semenyih, thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to be back, especially to roti canai, tosay, nasi goring kampung and kway teow soup.
Must say I love the grey skies and coolness but not the damp weather.
Shall heed your encouragement.
Dear Fatimah,
ReplyDeleteThank you. Nice to "hear your voice".
Hope you are all well, me duck!!
Welcome, Kak.
ReplyDeleteIz & I owe you both a treat for the lovely lunch. Insya'Allah, soon.
