MH 002 - KUL to LHR

These condiments will be going to the other home on Tuesday 10 January.

We made the same journey exactly a year ago  - back to the bracing cold.

At our age, we do not know  how much longer can we pursue this nomadic lifestyle.

Robert Frost in his poem -The Road Not Taken -  had to decide between two diverging roads  but of course AsH had to make her life more difficult by having to pick on three.

One road marks the depth of one's  soul - which points to Semenanjung Tanah Melayu .......

.........Arwah Pa'Tua Haji Majid wrote this letter to his brother Hamid three days before my father passed away.  The bond that held two brothers together  is replicated in my bond to the Semenanjung.

The other road leads to Singapore which still holds the heart's joy .........

...........especially the house that my father built at Pasir Panjang.

And tomorrow  AsH  will be taking the third road for England, where the mind  thrives and blooms like these daffodils at Victoria Park in March.

But I'm not complaining.  I believe very much in R. Frost's  Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening  where ..........

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep.

And so ta ra me duck !  ........ see you later next week, InsyaAllah.

Orang jauh tak lupa dari kenangan  - to all my sayang di sayang.

And you have miles of manuscript to keep you occupy, so no worry. Keep the mind busy and the body will take care of itself.

  3. Thank you bru,

Yes sir, your wish is my command. I shall buckle down to work as soon as I open the front door.

But first I need to gawk at my 'koboi' movies in the afternoons - hell, it has been 9 months!

  4. Thank you Baiti for your best wishes. It's very kind of Izuan to think of us - but we're fine for getting to KLIA.

Our salam to Izuan and you too take care.

  5. MasyaAllah... I believed there are reasons why He have chosen you to travel three diverging roads.. I also believed that you have used most of his rahmah to you hence you still have the use of your numerous faculties and you have more or less preserved your physical well-being..
My prayer will be that the new year will bring you two closer to Allah's Pleasure, Forgiveness and Bountiful Blessing..

  7. Wan Sharif,

Thank you for your comment and good wishes.

Yes, we all should utilise to the full our God-given blessings in whatever we can.

That we should search for and walk on that Straight Path - siratul Mustaqim.

  14. Pumkiner,

Of course you can. But you will have the petai and daun kesum and chili and blacan as neighbours.

    Thank you for popping in

  15. Dear Roy,

Gros bisous (action saja lah) to you and yours. We're slowly settling down.

The actress in that video is Kasmah Booty, the Malayan Rita Hayworth. She was the top actress then in the 4os and 50s. But I prefer the delicately sweet Zaiton - to me the Audrey Hepburn of the Malay screen. I only like this version of this beautiful song by Rubiah - the rest are vapid compared to her.

Take care girl and watch out for the tale of the Datin Kicap!

  16. ASH,

I understand your need for petai, daun kesum etc.

When visiting London, I just couldn't avoid those Malaysian restaurants in the Bayswater/Sussex Garden area.

Talking about petai, tomorrow I will be making my nasi goreng lace with petai .Add in generous amount of shallots, chillies and crush button mushrooms.Actually it is a special request from my newlywed nephew. This time his uncle has to oblige. Try la ASH! Another useful application of that stinking beans!

How nice to be able to go to England now. I would go berserk getting spare parts for my Alfa Romeo.

    Take care both of you!

  17. Thank you Pumkiner,

I think I like the taste of your nasi goreng - lucky nephew.

Give me petai any time - forget the strawberries and broad beans.

And I would go berserk at a Car Boot sale - have to wait till March though.
